“I would rather be whole than good” – Carl Jung

‘Good’ in this case means following and acting out the learned and internalised social script of what a ‘good’ person is.

‘Whole’ means listening for the parts of ourselves that don’t align or fit with this mould and finding ways for them to be felt, understood, expressed and shared in relationship.

Challenging as this is, it is also what brings us aliveness and closer to the essence of our being.

Here is a little thought experiment that will help: Imagine a masterful storyteller telling a wonderful story!

Quick note on story telling: We have all told good stories at one time or another and are continually making up stories about ourselves and others.… you could say we never stop! Our heads are good at making up stories, but with our hearts we can conjure wonderful stories!

So.. listening with your heart imagine the master storyteller, in the fire light beginning to weave this wonderful story…

The story is “The Ugly Duckling” .. and it is about you and how you gradually, bit by bit, grew, discovered, and gathered all your bits that didn’t fit, until one day you felt and saw them all as a beautiful whole!

Blessings on your wholeness!
