Amidst much ongoing uncertainty and crisis’s, at a personal level, it is understandable to be feeling shaky around our core existence. In remedy, our soulful connections give us substance and solidarity in the wake of the disturbing unknown. The place where we feel most deeply at home in ourselves is where our soul also resides. Healthy communities, in times of trouble, have multiple ways to connect with soul through rituals and ceremony that bring us home to ourselves and each other. Holidays where holy days set aside for this purpose.
How much rest and restoration have we given ourselves over these holy days?
For me there has been a lot more Festivity then Restivity, and so in my remaining time I am creating as much solace as possible.
If you haven’t already, take some moments to contemplate your life in this very moment and your felt sense of who you are, particularly outside and beyond your roles and responsibilities. It is easy to get attached and defined by these roles and responsibilities we play in society. So, it is normal to initially feel emptiness outside of them especially if you have been absent for a while! The easiest way to re-access our deeper selves and souls is to re-connect with either our deepest sadness, aloneness, or joyfulness.
· From sadness comes grief, and from grief comes recognition of love.
· From loneliness comes connection to self, and from self comes recognition of others.
· From joyfulness comes aliveness, and from aliveness comes true, humble gratitude and love.
In your home, in the hearth of your being, is the simple grand felt sense of your worthiness beyond who you are and what you do in the world.
In this place there is both tantalising mystery and an ineffable sense of yourself.
We need to maintain this connection as our through line through our lives.
Feel into the parts of your heart and soul that are hungry and thirsty for your attention and feel starved, dry and weak.
Take some moments to entertain what it might be like to water and feed these parts a little more in the life that is rolling out for you in this New Year!
Write a note in your calendar in 3 months to check in with how you are going with these nourishing these parts.
